Golfing

Pre-season get together

Get together at the Bowling Club to catch up with the winter league players and find out who won the winter league. Plan your golf for the summer and have some delightful home baking. This is also a chance to pay your fees, if you have not already done so on line and ask questions about the coming season. This is when the car parking draw happens too!

Opening 9 hole – Kick start

First game of the season played over 9 holes, to get you back out in a non-counting fun game. Teams of three with the best-chosen score declared. Saturday game with a 1.30 start followed by refreshments at the Bowling Club.

Friendly Matches

We play three games each summer season alternating between home/away, usually in a Greensomes format. 2022 sees the first friendly game away at Comrie, a very picturesque 9 hole course. We also play Dunning Ladies at their 9 hole course and King James Ladies at the Island. The only inland island course in Scotland. In 2022 both of these friendlies will be played on The North Inch. The games are followed by refreshments and the opportunity to discuss the game with the other players.

Summer Outing

On the 3rd Thursday in June, we converge on a course for our awayd-ay. The Committee try to find affordable, not too challenging courses, within an hour's driving from Perth. The day begins with a bacon roll (veggie alternative) tea/coffee and a two-course lunch to look forward to, if your golf is not the highlight! During this fun round, there will be challenges for the longest drive and nearest the pin to add to the excitement.

Mid-Summer Madness

A fun 9 hole celebration of long Scottish summer days, without getting up to play at first light. We Tee off at 1.30 on the nearest Saturday to mid-summer. Again, this is followed by refreshments at the Bowling Club.

Maggie’s Golf Event

A lovely relaxing summer day out at past Captain, Maggie Still’s garden/home. With the opportunity to play the short 5-hole course in the garden. Fabulous food, fun golf and the chance to try your hand at petanque and croquet or sit & chat.

Captain’s Lunch

Weather permitting, following our round, we will gather under the large trees opposite the new starter's hut for our picnic. Remember to bring your seat/blanket and your favourite picnic food. There will be a draw to pick partners and the game will be over 11 holes

Turkey Trot

Meet up at 1.30 for 9 holes to end the summer season before the winter league begins. Each player contributes £2 and the winner wins the pot. Maybe not enough to buy the turkey at today’s prices but a helpful contribution.
